Re: Safe opening gig

This safe is at least a class 4, I doubt it's only 1000 to 2000 Lbs, it's probably more like 4000 Lbs.
Redundant locks are normally 4 wheels, so they are pretty hard to manipulate. Often, because they are seldom used, they get pretty sticky
and hard to turn. Drilling this is a nightmare too. The safe has angled baffles that are made of hardened steel within the walls and door and has hard plate inside to protect
the locks. In addition, they are also protected with glass relockers and thermal links.

Moving a safe of this kind of weight is not cheap either, you'll need to hire heavy movers like Wingenback or the like and assure that
you have a place to put it where the floor can handle such dead weight, on such a small foot print, for a long time.

Pretty formidable safe. that's why it has redundant locks...
If it turns out, give it a try! Get acquainted!

Re: Safe opening gig

Do you the redundant mechanical lock is seperate from the time l9ck? Meaning will it open regardless of the top time lock? I have never done a 4 wheel Pretty sure I can manipulate a 4 wheel albeit not in my 6 - 15 minutes that I have become accustomed to with 3 wheel locks.... Probably more on the 1 -2 hour mark...

I've always enjoyed & appreciated your lock crusades! :D

That one looks to be a good bit outta my league, lol... so not much help from me.
Win or lose, should be a great learning experience. Can't wait to see how it goes!

Re: Safe opening gig

It should override the time delay.

Re: Safe opening gig

It took a bit of convincing the guy that I wouldn't be damaging the safe, I guess our skills are lost on some people, but he finally understood and has agreed to let me try... Next Monday is the day...

Re: Safe opening gig

Wow! That looks like quite the challenge...

I assume you realise the S&G 8550 is one of the so-called manipulation proof locks? The fact that it likely has four wheels is the least of your problems, if you're only familiar with the manipulation of group 2 locks.

I look forward to hearing about your progress.

Not to let you down, but it's not going to be easy if you haven't manipulated the 8550 before: "Tested against expert manipulation for 20 man-hours"
