Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

One more question: Where are the contact points? On mine they are at 99/11 and due to the square spindle +25, +50, +75. I suspect, that they vary from lock to lock, or perhaps more likely from dial to dial.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

Hello, I bought a Cole file cabinet with a safe door inside a locking door for $20.The safe is currently open. It has a 3" dial and inside the second drawer is the number N-359535. It would be nice to be able to use the safe portion if someone could help me decode this somehow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

Hello,

My grandmother recently passed away and left behind an old Cole Steel Equipment Safe inside a locked cabinet. My father asked me to take a crack at the safe, but I’m not following how to do this myself. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The safe has a 3” dial and has what I’m guessing is a serial number of N-502669. Is there a directory of combos based on this information? Or could I solve this myself with some type of decoder pin.

Any guidance here would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
HT

I've been having superb luck opening these Cole 'safes' with this:

Does it work also on other safes?

Not to my knowledge but someone will chime in with their ring decoder experiences.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

Hello all! I'm Eddie. I'm here for help with a Cole Steel cabinet safe. The cabinet door is open, but I'm unable to get the safe itself open. I have the number on the back, as well as what I thought was the combo on a piece of tape, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've read through the thread to get some insight on how to enter the combo correctly, but I still can't get it.

The details of the safe/cabinet are:
4" diameter dial
N-450057

The combo written on the piece of tape is written as follows (see reference image as well):

L-50
R-50 -4
L-75

Image

The additional "-4" in the middle is confusing to me, but I'm hoping someone on here can help me out. It'd be much appreciated!

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

The dialing sequence of the Cole is 3L-2R-1L and R to open. I guess the 50-4 was his way to note how to dial to achieve the second time right. Dial right to 50 (passing 4 once), then dial right to 4 (reaching it a second time).

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

Give this a shot using the dialing sequence provided by @MartinHewitt - L50-R04-L75 right to open

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

Hello, I'm new to the site. Just bought an amazing cabinet with multiple drawers and a safe inside the door from a lady in Louisville KY. She had a ton of collector worthy cabinets but I didn't know until I got there or I would have bought more.. No idea what the combo is, but found the code behind the drawers, my lock is different looking and more plain than the other pics on here, hoping it is still original. Can anyone help crack the code? Thanks!

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe

Hiya Folks,
I'm another newbie with a Cole filing cabinet/safe, issue. I found this cabinet in my basement years ago and thought it would do great in my home office. But, although I have the keys, I do not have the combination for the safe. The numbers on the inside back wall are N107413. I would very much appreciate someone's help in getting it open, as I would hate to scrap it. It really is a solid thing of beauty.
