Going to redo and study this and make sure I'm doing it right .

I did the graph 1 over again with better confidence . There is a large "peak" at 15 not 20 and something is goin on ot 65 which nis exactly the opposite of the 15 peak . I think vally is 65 . It takes time to upload the pic as I rely on my sons camera phone . Soon

I'll try your method as I am use to looking at numbers rather that a graph . My vision is poor and relief of not graphing as you gomight help . I could always graph usng the "math data" at a later time if I need it to visualize or post.

...it appears w3 is the owner of that peak. Not w1 as we (or I) previously thought.

Yeah, it could very well be that the last # of your combo lies around 65.

If the fence rests on one wheel only, you will get one peak only.

Fritz, I get the feeling you're beginning to do your own homework

If the fence rests on one wheel only, you will get one peak only.

That would mean that the one wheel the fence is resting on is larger than the other two wheels including their respective peaks, humps or tabs, whatever they are. On the contrary, I think that the wheels are most likely to be very nearly the same diameter, or certainly not different enough in size for one of them to mask the peaks, humps, or tabs on the other two.

On the other hand, I think the peak or hump or tab is more likely to be something extraneous, not put there intentionally, something like a dead spider which has somehow gotten stuck onto one of the wheels and perhaps petrified, or something else that was not intended to be there.

Then I woke up this morning wondering just how, if the peak or hump or tab is tall enough how can it even be measured since it is likely to be lifting the lever or what I call the "hook" clear out of the gap so that the contact points can no longer be contacted.

When he gets it open I guess we might find out.

Yes, or the wheels could be warped, or tilted on their axle or he axle being not square to its base or the fence is not perfect or any number of things that we call "reality" and "manufacturing methods & tolerances".

If you get contat point readings and suddengly you find an area with no contact points, well there's your hump. You don't need to know its relative height, you only need to know it is there.
