Manganese Steel
I could not find an answer to what the famous "manganese steel" is as a lot of steel alloys have manganese content. In Richard Byrne's Safecracking I found the answer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangalloy
Of course I don't know if the modern used "manganese steel" is this Mangalloy or just a hardened tool steel with a bit manganese. I assume it is hardened tool steel because it is cheaper.
