Manipulated quite well, although the order of indication was W2->W3->W1. Again a nice graph because I again watched TV.

There are two mysteries with this lock.
1) The lock had 6 spacer washers, on each side of the flies one. With that many washers and a properly installed C clip the wheels won't turn.
2) I filed down a standard S&G change key. When I use the key with cover removed everything is fine. With a closed lock I can't turn any wheel centers. I think the reason is, that the key is tilted a bit with the cover installed.

I have tried to find a CP on my golden Mosler with the help of a contact mike. No chance. The only thing I hear are the gears. It is to well lubed.

I am at the moment in Vienna and got here this nice lock. The dial is a Yale, the lock is a friction frnce rotobolt, which looks like a Mosler to me. I don't think the two are a team. Again, I can't feel a CP, but can hear loud and clear the gears. Dialing direction is RLRL and R to stop. With this dial splined at 50 it needs to be mounted LH.

I think it is a Yale 027 which is the same as a Mosler 15.

Actually the spline key sits at 10. There is a pin going through dial base and spindle base, so I thought I could remove that pin and turn the spindle over for RH mounting. The pin came out, but the spindle doesn't move a hair.

Great find there Martin. I agree, looks like an 027.

Wish I could get a hold of more locks along these lines...
but they sometimes fetch a higher price than I'd like.

The last one I was watching went for a little over a $100. I couldn't say if this is a fair or average price, or if there was a bidding war going on over this particular one. I dunno. But I'll keep watching. Keep waiting. Congrats on acquiring that one!

On the final turn right... where does it come to a solid stop?

I got this lock as a gift. So I can't really complain about the price.

LH I can dial exactly to 50 and then open by turning right with a solid stop at 90.

Do you know the difference between 026 and 027?

026 lock case is black enamel over cast iron.
027 lock case is satin finished cast bronze.

According to McOmie the 027 has cast iron. If the case material is the only difference, that it would be the 027 according to McOmie and 026 according to you. A difficult decision.

Does have the number of wheels an influence on the number?

Thank you! I really enjoy anything to do with locksmithing but I really like safes and vaults the most. I always have since I was a kid. I just started learning to Manipulate my S&G 6730 and graphing it. I need to teach my son to change the combination so I can do it in the blind as much as I can. It is a cutaway lock so if I get too stumped I can cheat. haha It is nice to find a place to talk to people about this kinda thing because no one that I know has the slightest clue about anything in this field. There seems to be no end to the information just on safe locks alone.
