Start somewhere

1st Graph.JPG
I have been lurking around trying to read as much as possible and also been using materiel downloaded here from Dagger.
After reading Shadowlocks postings I decided to post my first graph.
I plan on using the advice that was offered to Shadowlock.
Starting with redoing my first graph.
Had a lot of the same issues while graphing.
Also need more time learning to spin consistently.

Thanks

I think maybe I should have someone else set the combo.

What I do when I don't have anyone to set it for me, is I close my eyes as I dial the new combo. I just make sure to keep track of where the forbidden zone is so I don't accidentally set the 3rd number to there. And of where the previous number is relative to the next # I set (so I don't set 2 consecutive #'s within 10 of each other). Then after I pull the change key out, I spin it several times. This way, I don't know any #'s and all I might possibly know is the relative position of one number to another. But only within about a 30 number range at best.

Your first graph! VERY EXCITING!!!

ALOT can be learned from running a manipulation with a known combo. ESPECIALLY when starting out.
But I can also understand the thrill & challenge of learning with an authentic opening. That's how we are :)

jharveee,

Great to see you spinning! It's very addicting and it won't be long before you're buying more locks.

Daggers book is great...it's what got me started in manipulation. I've read others as well and they've helped too, but Daggers breaks it down to the basics that are easy to understand.

Your graph looks pretty good to me. Obviously 75 is a huge signature, and you know that since you set the combination, but like Oldfast said, you can learn a lot from a lock when you know the combination.

Spinning consistently comes with practice. We all seem to strive for speed, and that's fine, but I've found that slowing down a little bit and taking my time makes me more accurate, but it also helps increase my speed the more locks I manipulate. Your confidence increases as do your skills, and that helps you to spin faster. It'll come, believe me!

Keep posting your work if you can...it's great to see someone progress in this hobby.

Re: Start somewhere

I wish my first graph was like that! Instead I got a quite flat one...

About changing the combo yourself, I did it many times with my eyes closed and worked every time. Don't be afraid about the forbidden zone: you don't put it on a safe, just play with it, so nothing bad should happen. Just count approx four turns, three turns, two turns... don't look at the last number, reset the wheels after you remove the change key.

Cheers :)

Re: Start somewhere

I like your graph Jharveee. That 75 really jumped out at you. Glad to see your spinning too, it's nice to have company while learning how to manipulate. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you in your new journey. Good luck and don't quit. Keep asking questions!

Re: Start somewhere

Too cool! :hbg:

One thing I noticed you have some sort of High-Low chart(graph) worksheet, is there a way I could get a blank copy?

Thanks

Re: Start somewhere

If anyone needs any:

You can download all the graphing charts you like at Math Aids.com.

To get the one see above select 1 Block = 1/4 In.

http://www.math-aids.com/Graph_Paper/Graph_Paper.html

I too would like a blank High-Low chart(graph) worksheet if one is available.

Re: Start somewhere

Hmmm?....I printed mine from the National Locksmith guide to manipulation. Hold on...I'll see if I can post the link...

Ok guys....there it is...I just got it off the internet. If it doesn't work send me a PM and I'll do it when i get home from work. I have the pdf on my computer at home. I just go to that pdf page and print current page only and BOOM! LOL, that's about the extent of my computer skills....
