Kaba auditcon slide bolt gutted (basic model)

Got this fairly cheap. It is branded as a "quicklock 2" and is functionally a crippled series 1 Autitcon. Aside from the missing audit features you can't disable the sound or add a 2nd user.

Now, despite the 2nd user being un-selectable, dual access mode can still be toggled. This means that the lock requires two codes to do anything, including resetting the mode, but the second code is stuck at the default [50 25 50]. A bit sloppy for a safe lock; might have been a last-minute UL thing.

Anyway, can't offer much insight, just pictures.

The ground wire connects to a mounting screw and the generator. That and the metal wrapper are most of the ESD protection.

The actual lock.

There is a cable channel on both casings so it can be mounted on either side to accommodate the boltwork.

The bolt it rated for 1kN (225 lbs) in any direction. If I understand that means it can take 1.4kN (318 lbs) from the boltwork, something about 45° and √2. The pin in the tip allows for either a static square piece (fitted) or a roller.

Wow, great pics! Thanks for posting!

Are you saying they legitimately use a nail in the lock or were you just using that as a reference for size?

It is used as a spring guide. It is cheaper than having some special part made up.

1911, That is obvious to my trained eye. Your nail is a "Linear Stabilization Device", the difference of course being 3cents vs. 8 dollars!

Re: Kaba auditcon slide bolt gutted (basic model)

Just by chance, do any of you know how to reset these to the factory combo if the combo is lost? I got one recently off a safe door that was being scrapped. The lock works, but the combo is unknown.

If I can reset the combo, then will mount the lock along with my other safe locks.

Thanks,

Gordon
