Old Yale Combo lock

Got this old yale combo lock.
Wheels were frozen when I got it, Shackle was open to the weather for "Who Knows" how long.

Would like to get it working again.
Sprayed cleaner in it and now wheels spin, I think all of them.
The locking dog is frozen, so I can't push it back to see the wheels.

Any ideas on getting this lock back on its feet?

Thanks :combolock: :akimbo:

That is neat! I wonder if you could use electrolysis to remove the rust internally and externally.

Re: Old Yale Combo lock

Maybe shoot some penetrating oil in there where the dogs are and let it sit for a while, then try to work the dogs apart. Repeat a couple of times if necessary. I'm not sure if that will loosen it up or not but it might be worth a try.

Cool lock by the way!

I'm thinking of plopping it into a bucket of "something".
Just don't have anything Handy. If I were to go buy "something" I'm not exactly sure what it would be called.? :???:

Re: Old Yale Combo lock

I'd recommend PB Blaster or Kroil for penetrating rust.
femurat: They're called restricted for a reason...
Innerpicked: The more keys you carry, the more important you look
GWiens2001: Great video! Learned a lot about what fun can be had with a forklift and a chainsaw.
