Medeco original

I got this lock from ChemicalRobot the other day, and was finally able to pick it yesterday, but due to time restraints I was unable to take it apart and take pictures of it.
Without further delay, here are the pictures.
P.S. the clip on the back of this thing was wicked hard to get off. :armed:
also, I will post a video of this lock when i get the picking time down.

Re: Medeco original

Very nice! What was your process?

And yes, those clips are a pain to take off. They have those little holes on the ends though, so there must be some tool that fits into them for removal.

P.S. If anybody else wants a Medeco Original I might have one or two left. Just PM me.
Howdy!

Re: Medeco original

Yeah, there are tools for clips like that. They usually have flippable pins too so that you can compress or expand depending on the clip and whether your removing or putting one on.

And nice job Jonny!

Re: Medeco original

Basically the first thing I did with this lock was to take out all the pins to get a better feel for what I was up against. I then just added in pins as I was able to pick them. To pick it, I would move my pick around in the lock with very light tension to try to get the sidebar set up and see what i was up against. Then it was a matter of lifting the pins and doing whatever rotation was necessary.
the first time it opened I nearly $#!+ my pants.

Re: Medeco original

To open it the first time I was using slimlines from southord, but I am now using a peterson short hook and a half diamond if necessary. MUCH more comfortable.

Re: Medeco original

Ok, I have recovered my memory, the tools for removing the rings are called "Snap-Ring Pliers" of which spanky posted a nice pair... you can get a cheap set of them at harbor freight with a few sets of reversible tips of varying sizes. They are a very handy tool to have if you do any kind of mechanical device disassembly/reassembly.
