Angal Magnate Medeco Clone

Insane tolerances and bitting. Six pins requiring lifting and rotating with a sidebar just like the Medeco. I'm shocked at how tight this lock is compared to the authentic Medeco Classics. The technique for picking these is opposite of Medeco. I used the Medeco CW method picking CCW. Notice the micro-serrations on the drivers, makes for a very interesting feeling when picking, almost like a rusted/wornout feeling.

Hell yeah! Very cool. I'll bet you were excited to come across it. I was not even aware of them.

Those micro-serrations, I wouldn't have even noticed, had you not made mention of them.

Re: Magnate Angal Medeco Clone

Cool, I haven't seen an imitation Medeco before.

They even copied the pins so a medecoder/groovegrabber would work.
I think the micro-serrations are just cheap manufacturing techniques though.

yeah, the rotational tolerances weren't like medeco, but the drivers.. something about those microserrated cheapo drivers made them annoying.

Re: Angal Magnate Medeco Clone

never picked a medeco. i figured the angal would be a cheaper way to torment myself before i shelled out for a real medeco. before i started making my own security pins, the highest security locks i had picked were the american padlocks. i was really proud of the pins i made until i found that youtube video of your chess piece looking alien pins. that took me down a notch or two. i study your videos dude, thank you so much for sharing. maybe soon i can get a camera and give back a little myself. be well!

LOL... those alien chess piece pins were crazy... i put some of those triple-pronged pins in a lockwood and i still haven't opened it. the Magnate will definitely be a fun/challenging lock for you to learn pin rotation. how much did you pay for yours? you can find Medecos for around $20-$40 on ebay fairly regularly... some of them even have keys and the ID card. i have a ton of them, perhaps a trade is in order. what's nice about Medeco (and this Magnate) is the mortise housing has grub screws so you can easily remove pins and learn progressively.

Re: Angal Magnate Medeco Clone

i probably should have shopped around a bit more. i wanted a brand new lock and i wanted it quickly so i just paid the dude $40. i worked on it for about 4 hours last night and i am pretty sure i got the pins set to shear. the mushroom did not slow me in the least, but that side bar is a bitch! i feel like a pin grabber or medecoder would be cheating, so rotation is someting i will have to work on. i was picking CW, and i just found your medeco report on CCW picking so iam gonna try that. as for a trade? i hope to one day become "an established member in good standing" on this forum, but from watching your vids i dont think i would have anything you might want. guess we will see... anyway, thank you again for sharing. maybe i will crack this bitch soon.
