It seems like none of the inner parts were plastic---that they are all metal? All metal construction seems like it would be expected for a lock of this cost and strength, but there are rumors on the RR forums that holding a RR fusee (a "road flare") to one will melt the interior components. (When the old non-enviro locks would freeze in winter, RR employees would hold a fusee to them to melt the ice and free the lock).

correct, no plastic. I've never heard of anyone melting one of these innards. :)
