I wrote up a guide on these before, but a video is much easier to understand... although I guess my accent could leave that open to debate

In the video I've covered the basic principles of the mechanism, the tools, proper picking technique, advanced picking and also some troubleshooting for those locks that just won't seem to pick. There are some useful links in the description too, make sure to check those out!

These locks aren't exactly copies of the Abloy design, they work along the same principle but are actually cheaper variants of the ones manufactured by companies like Solex and Monterey. Those are higher quality, but the same rules when picking them apply. Only difference is, there will be false gates and the binding order won't be as lateral.

I wanted to fit it all into one vid, but it's almost 20 mins long so I had to split it into 2. You'll definately need a cuppa for this one. Enjoy!

Are you able to use those techniques/tools on Abloy locks? I vaguely remember reading that the Abloy's use other disks apart from the front and rear for tension which would make it harder than the lower spec locks to pick.

Abloy are much more complex, definately. The tools are more specialised and take more skill to use, although the picking procedure remains much the same. The driver discs are at set positions as far as I'm aware, but there are so many different models for different applications and levels of security it's really hard to say where. Although the main reasons abloy are harder is down to higher manufacturing tolerances, false gates, and in some cases they also employ the use of multiple disc profiles. It's scary stuff

You're gonna make me blush LSA... remember these are really cheap and crappy, very easy to open. I did a video a while before this where I blasted through a pile of em in just a few mins... it's not that I'm awesome at picking, they just suck

I'm still confused about directions. So you zero clockwise, tension clockwise and rotate anti-clockwise?

Yep. When you rotate the discs anti-clockwise slowly you'll feel them set after very little movement, if you feel no set after rotating back about 45 degrees then it's a 0 disc and you should feel it set when you return to the 90 degree position.

Before this i was completely in the dark as to how to tension one of these suckers, :') after watching those two videos i clearly understand how i can manipulate them, and with practice will be able to pick them :') thanks solomon,or dr.brint :') really glad u posted this

very glad that someone brought this video up again, this is the newest experiment for my practicing while i wait for my safe lock and dial to arrive in the mail. i have the same tool, and very similar locks. thanks, a new skill learned quickly for myself.
