It had no key, but I intend to remedy that. :-). It is a 107. Tomorrow will likely be too busy at work, so it will probably be Sunday or Monday before I make the key.

Gordon

P.S. Does anybody know the cuts for a 108, 110, and 111 key? I know the rest of them from a post put up by Squelchtone.

Congrats! And that one looks to be in great shape. I have only one. And I've not yet explored it much. You probably already
watched it... but I remember Bosnianbill had a pretty informative vid dealing with the keys (I think). Might be worth a look?

p.s. Mac is ALWAYS a pleasure to deal with :yep:

If I can figure out how to open it up, he'll get his gut shots. Have not tried very hard, but I assume the round thing at the top of the padlock should be rotated to take this lock apart.

I have seen Bosnian Bill's video, and it is excellent. It has been a while, and I think it does show how to take it apart. That video was one of Squelchtone's posts. I took a screenshot from that video, where he shows his chart of key numbers and the cuts. It was from that chart that I knew what angles I needed to manipulate the discs to in order to open the lock. Just used a small screwdriver to set the deepest, the middle, then the shallowest discs. Minor adjustments, then the shallowest disc was able to drive the plug and open the lock.

Cool looking lock I need one too!

I never seen one but looks to me once unlocked as your is just rotate the top disk 180% or less to the notch opening on the right side seen in your last picture. I'll have to find this video you speak of now.

Gwiens, if you look inside the open shackle hole towards that middle plug you should see a small hole with a roll pin in it. To get it apart you have to remove that pin.

@MrWizard -

@Riyame - Thanks!  I'll see about giving it a shot tomorrow, cause we gotta feed Mike's porn fetish.

To get one of these locks, I'd recommend macgng. His prices are great, and he ships fast.

Gordon

P.S. Bet you did not know it, but I have a lock-porn fetish, too. :D

You got a 107 it's a goodie man these are one of my favorite locks I have a couple. The 107 keys are hard to come by there are cast stainless steel ones and 2 different brass versions one will also open 101 locks.

Update - preliminary key made during slow time at work. I'll make a nicer key when I get some brass stock. For now, this will have to do. Used one of the metal guide rods that I kept from my son's crib. Why throw away good metal? The bow is just a washer.

For those who don't know how large this lock is, here are pictures of the lock next to a ruler. First metric:

Image

The shackle is 14,22mm thick!

Image

And for those of us in the United States:

Image

Yes, over a half inch thick shackle. 8-)

Image

Is this that roll pin to be removed?

Image

There are no roll pins inside the shackle hole. If that is the roll pin that needs to be removed to disassemble the lock, there won't be no gut shots of this lock. That roll pin Is tiny!

That's all, folks!

Nice! Thank you, Jim. :-)

Those two rods - are they like the return/scrambler bars in the ABLOY locks, or more like sidebars?

I suppose this is the right place to ask about this - I was recently discussing the prospect of making a hobbs-like/Tibbe type pick for this lock and being able to lock the pick in place and to use it like a key.

I realise that the lock is very easy to pick and only has 20-odd possible keys for it but would a tool such as this be of interest to anyone?

Yes Gordon, that is the pin you need to remove. On the early models the pin was located on the outside like that. Later on they switched inside the shackle hole for more security.
