Ultimate Locks

Hello, guys. I'm new to this thing, and watched few thousand videos on YT. I only can pick single five pin lock. I didn't try security pin tumbler lock yet, and wants try dimple locks. In here, ninety percent of lock are dimple lock. While watching again some youtube user, bosnian videos, he mentions this site. Do i need to buy all three of them or should i buy only "adversary" one? When i reading some infos, it says novice to master, so i thought i can try other twos in last one. I have first four picks(two hooks, two rakes) and only one tension wrench, don't know the length.

Also i don't get numbers on pick, like twenty nice thousands etc... And how they know pins by lock series number like bla bla 570.

Cheers, Ganbat.

Re: Ultimate Locks

I bought the Ultimate Advesary when I first started picking a few months ago and have been very happy with it, it comes with a lot of extra pins and will teach you how standard spool and serrated security pins feel. You only need to buy just 1 and I'd just get the 7 pin Ultimate. For other locks to pick on I'd hunt eBay and craigslist as keyless locks don't have much value.

Happy pickin!

Re: Ultimate Locks

Thanks for reply, about two other question: ebay's cheap Chinese dimple locks were about $15 i think, and shippin' was $15-30. Half of them doesn't ship to here. Still don't get the numbers(probably thickness, or size of picks).

Re: Ultimate Locks

The "pick number" your talking about is usually the thickness if it's in the .031, .025, .018, .015 or metric equivalent. Sometimes you'll see pick #1, 2,3,4,etc and that's just the manufacturers way to differentiate between their picks and isn't a universal size rating. Standard picks are usually in the .025-.031 range and the thinner picks are used for hard to reach pins in tight keyways. Thicker picks usually last longer and so there great to start with and once you break one just order a thinner one as a spare to play with.

Re: Ultimate Locks

So twenty eight thousands mean 0.028 inch. Then by thickness, you meant by A(line) right?
Image
If thinner picks, or tension wrench breaks easily, where can i buy only single pick? For example, flat flag shaped one for used dimple locks. Sparrows had traditional main few hooks, and rakes, but 0.015 inch thickness. For handles, is it better to buy shrink wrap and do it myself?

Re: Ultimate Locks

'A' line is right.

0.031 0.025 0.023 0.020 0.018 0.015 inch
0.787 0.635 0.584 0.508 0.457 0.381 mm

Re: Ultimate Locks

Do you have a vise? I found it helped me a lot to have my locks held in a vise while picking.

Re: Ultimate Locks

Thanks.

I ordered a vise for five bucks week ago, and waiting. Probably it's just better to buy from shop in a few days.
