So I think I'm finally going to get a video camera, I've been reaserching them, pricing them, and watching youtube reviews, and so far I've come up with this:

So I just wanted to know what kind of video camera do you guys have and if you had any pointers for buying a video camera.

I started out with a Samsung S630 that I bought on sale for about $230. It's pretty good, but I found that I was using up the capacity in the SD card pretty quick in the video mode. Something in the $190 t0 $290 range ought to be fine.

Recently, I got a Panasonic SDR - HD40 that is pretty cool.

What I like about it is you can burn 36 hours of video on its hard-drive in normal mode - or you can use SD & SDHC cards. However, price-wise, it's not a good value if all you are doing is shooting videos for posting or playing around.

I use mine for work - so I can write off the cost of the camera as a business expense.

I personally did the whole research thing to DEATH! I asked so many people, tried so many cameras and tested so many in the shops really thoroughly and the best I could get for about 480 Aussie bucks was the Canon Digital IXUS 90IS

Its perfect for exactly what we do. Youtube. Some of the best features are the speed with which it adjusts to extreme lighting changes. I love this about this camera. It can go from extreme bright to dark and it adjusts extremely fast. Its got a perfect 3inch screen. One big plus is the inclusion of optical image stabilisation to combat image blur caused by shaky hands... so all us junkies who have the shakes can totallyuse it! ^^;

I like my camera XD It wasnt overpriced, and its got everything I need without any extras Im not gonna use. So your not paying for stuff you dont need.

I have a Kodak EasyShare CX7530 with a 1GB SD Card. It works well and records in 320 or 640, which, for Youtube, 320 is perfect. However it is a little annoying as it saves the files in .MOV's which makes it really really hard to edit them and stuff. Though having Quicktime Pro does help.

If you plan on doing videos, make sure you get a good camera and check specifically into that function, because sometimes it's a roll of the dice.

This week, Target has a Samsung S85 on sale for $100.. Add a $15 1GB card and it should work fine for most things.

Specs
The macro goes to 1cm, so it should be good for taking picking related photos. Only bummer is no manual focus.

I was looking at walmart.com and I found this.

It looks very nice, uses SD cards, is a 7.1MP .JPG stills, and also a AVI, 640x480 30FPS/320x240 30FPS video camera. Then, if you wanted a good SD card, Walmart also has a 2GB one for $17.

it's cheap but it will work for now, I like the fact that it's compact and easy to use, I watched some youtube vids of the quality of the picture and it seems decent.

Not a bad choice i guess. Hope it works for ya. ^^;
