Embedding YouTube, Pics, Banners Etc...

ok so when it comes to html and all that jazz my eyes go fuzzy...

Can anyone clearly explain for me and all the upcoming new members how to:

1) Embed YouTube vids so you can see the video frame in the actual post. (I cant seem to figure it out)

2) Make your sig so if you click on the sig image it links you to an outside source (eg. a youtube page, or personal website) rather than having a link underneath the picture...

also what do the List=, [*], and Code thingies do?

Any help would make me happier than a pig in poop!

Re: Embedding YouTube, Pics, Banners Etc...

ok i was in fact going to make a thread explaining all the codes, and i still will, but here is a mini insight to it.

ok first lets start off with the code button, the code button will allow you to post code without it being active. so like how i would post Image
but in the code box it allows you to see it as
  Code:
[img]http://www.keypicking.com/styles/acidtech/imageset/12345.gif[/img]

I will use this in demonstrating the rest of them.

to do youtube videos, you just click the youtube button and it will show this:
  Code:
[Youtube][/Youtube]

you then post the video url in between the code brackets as so:
  Code:
[Youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWFhrhXrOOM[/Youtube]

make sure you include the http:// and the www.
it should turn out like this
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWFhrhXrOOM[/youtube]

now as for the list, the List code starts an unordered list and the * adds a new element to it. like so:
  Code:
[list]
[*]Red
[*]Blue
[*]Yellow
[/list]

it is
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Yellow

however the List= code starts an ordered list so it gives you the ability to change the output format. To create an ordered list you use
  Code:
[list=1][/list]
to create a numbered list or use
  Code:
[list=a][/list]
for an alphabetical list. As with the unordered list, items are specified using *.
like this:

  Code:
[list=1]
[*]Eat Pizza
[*]Look at milk
[*]Decide to drink water
[/list]

will look like:

  1. Eat Pizza
  2. Look at milk
  3. Decide to drink water

Whereas for an alphabetical list you would use:
  Code:
[list=a]
[*]Eat Pizza
[*]Look at milk
[*]Decide to drink water
[/list]

making:

  1. Eat Pizza
  2. Look at milk
  3. Decide to drink water

now to hyperlink your signature to a website, you use this code:
  Code:
[url=http://www.whatever.com][img]image url[/img][/url]

so lets do it with yours.

your signature code all together to link to your youtube page should look like this:
  Code:
[url=http://www.youtube.com/skippidypicking][img]http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4866/25548050fv7.jpg[/img][/url]

and it should compile like so:
Image

hope this helps... i will make a more in depth one at a later date.
