number/letter metal stamp set

what's a good brand for a number/letter metal stamp set, I want quality and am willing to spend the money for a set that will last forever.

Also if anyone has an extra number/letter metal stamp set they wanna trade or sell let me know.

I usually go to my dad for tool advise but he mostly does wood work.

Any info, links or advise would be great.

THANKS!!!!!

I posted this in chat, my #1 source for most tools is Harry Epstein in Kansas City MO. They specialize in US made items.

If they don't have what you want, they will special order it from the manufacturer.

Re: number/letter metal stamp set

I have a cheap set of stamps and they have served me well for a number of years (and all 10 times I have used them) , I do want to order a Master and Control stamp (I found a locksmith supply place that has a master one http://www.lockpicks.com/key-stamp-master.html )

Re: number/letter metal stamp set

Got mine from HPC.
Have had them for at least 15 years and used them everyday, they are still good for many years to come.
I mostly use them on brass though, but I occasionally use them on steel too, lightly.
Only use a small ball pein hammer, they are softer than other hammers, they wont mushroom out the punches.

Same here, I actually inherited the "Family Lockshop" stamps from my Dad, after buying him out back in 1994. I don't know how many years he had been using them, I have gotten over 21+ years from them
HPC stamps are tough. I also like that they have a witness mark to tell you when they are being held correctly

For just occasional use on soft metals an inexpensive set from Harbour Freight will suffice

Re: number/letter metal stamp set

My shop uses young brothers stamps. They stamp nice and last a very long time. Ebay has the best prices I've seen
