Papa Gleb's Cut Away

Never thought I would have a thread named cutaway lol. The burning erg inside me to get work with a mill and make a cutaway consumed me except I still dont have a mill nor access to one but I do have some needle files :)

I used a Dremel at first but that proved to be to unpredictable (notice the scuf on the 4th chamber) and also messed up the plug as the cutting wheel went into the opposite side of the chamber regardless of how careful I was. Pulled out a new plug and hand filed from there on.

Re: Papa Gleb's Cut Away

Great work! It is difficult to do such things by hand. That looks a ton better than my first cut-away I made a few decades back. Keep it up!

Re: Papa Gleb's Cut Away

Wow - that is an amazing job. I like how you have a clear view of the moving parts. It's impressive that you did that by hand - I think I'd last about 10 minutes, and the dremel tool would be out.

Re: Papa Gleb's Cut Away

Very nice work Gleb! Reminds me of a member here some years ago.
Maybe you've come across his work? viewtopic.php?p=44757#p44757

He'd start with a dremel and finish it up all by hand. Not sure if his
youtube vids are even still up. But you might pick up some tips.
