Re: ChonkyTonks Custom Picks

Gents,

I wanted to provide you with an update to let you know that I am still alive and still working on picks (albeit at a far slower pace than was possible last year). I still have orders on which I am working and, at some point, will re-open my store. The overall reason for the drastic slowdown was due to some pretty shitty stuff occurring with my family over the holidays (and leading up to) and I am still trying to pick up all of the pieces. Once things have fully calmed down, I will come back here on a more regular basis.

Keypicking is a great, tight-knit group of pickers for whom I have a great deal of respect. I miss the banter and collaboration and look forward to getting back to that. I just wanted you lot to know that I have not bailed on you.

Thanks,
ChonkyTonks

Thanks for the update, and I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. That kind of stuff can be a real kick in the pants. You're a good person, and an amazing craftsman, I doubt anyone begrudges you for putting pickmaking on the backburner while you sort things out. What you're dealing with is much more important.

This is, hands down, the most beautiful pick I have ever seen. Excellent choice of bocote for the handle material, the distinct striping lends itself very well to the overall flow of the pick.

Re: ChonkyTonks Custom Picks

Things are getting easier these days (dealing with familial issues is always chockerbock full of fun, eh?) and, as a result, I have actually been able to work on picks here and there. My hope is to get the sets done that are horribly overdue and then start working toward opening my shop again. Worry not, LSA, your picks are a part of the aforementioned sets. ;) Thanks for your patience. I will be back in full force later this summer.

Out of curiosity... Where do you source your wood from?

I get it from many different places. Some locally, some online.

Thanks, Magician. Out of curiosity, what do you think would push the pick design portion to "awesome" status? I leverage templates for the pick designs, and really have not made anything custom, yet.

they are awesome picks. anyone would be lucky to have them in their toolkit, amazing creativity with the handles :D

Here is proof that I am back in the game:

I pushed through these so that I could put my full concentration on getting MBI's set finished. It is nice to have the time to make picks again.
