Piotr's Second Polymer Clay-Handled Pick

This is no Ratyoke but its better than the polymer clay-handled picks I paid US$100 for -- by far. More importantly, its better than my last effort. I used a metallic opal green polymer clay this time. This pick really shines and glistens but my photography doesn't capture that. The pick blade is polished to a mirror finish and the handle is extremely smooth, it feels almost like glass. Again, I used a street sweeper bristle but this time an old rusted one that I found in the gutter. I feel a little bit proud that I was able to transform refuse into something pleasing to the eye and useful.

That looks great Piotr!! A big improvement over the last one. You seem to have this method nailed down! Even recycled an old street sweeper bristle no less. I've had the same problem taking pictures of my picks. It's really hard to show all the work that does go in to them. Keep up the amazing work!!

Re: Piotr's Second Polymer Clay-Handled Pick

I have to admit Piotr, when I first heard of the idea of using polymer clay for pick handles a few years ago, I was skeptical. But you've sold me on the idea. That is an impressive pick. If you decide to start selling them, please put me in line for one.

Re: Piotr's Second Polymer Clay-Handled Pick

Nice job there! Polymer clay handles are nice too if you can make them look good that is one hell of a plus!

Re: Piotr's Second Polymer Clay-Handled Pick

Thanks for all the compliments guys, they mean heaps to me.

Yes I do cut small notches on the blade to help keep it inside the clay. I don't know how important this is because the clay does have adhesive properties, it will bond to clean materials when it bakes.

I will prepare a tutorial on pick/handle making soon.
