Making a Steel handled medium hook , rather pleased with it so far , the blade is 25 thou Starret , the handles are 1.6mm mild Steel , taking a long time to smooth out the scratches , but hey ho ! what else can you do ! :shorthook:

They look great Nozza! Also, I somehow missed that steel handled medium hook
back in September. Damn I like that one. I especially like how thin the handle is.

I'll raise my hand for that. Been there. Think we all have at one time or another.
Nice part about this hobby though... there's always something else to enjoy.

Re: Nozza36, homebrew

This is one of the picks i made to be an xmas gift for some of the members , after having problems with the Steel handles , i re- glued them and shrink wrapped them !
Disappointed with the amount of work i had to do , just to make the handles look nice , i sort of ignored them for too long , so today i decided to polish up the blade and shrink wrap the rough steel handle :shorthook:
The shank is 25 thou and tapers to 18 thou at the tip !

Very nice. That's a good thickness too. My favorite hook is a SouthOrd that I thinned out
years ago. Approximately what you have there. Mine is about 20 thou from shank to tip.

Much thicker than that I find is restrictive in many key ways. Of course, it's nice to have
a couple thicker hooks for those open key ways (might as well have the added strength)

Nice job Nozza.

Re: Nozza36, homebrew

Here's my latest pick , an old pal contacted me basically saying "Help , i've broken my favorite pick , can you make a copy for me ? ^
Turns out that the pick was just a Klom rake , i gave him the exact pick from my unused set and then made him another rake this week , think he will enjoy it !
