Re: Anero's Picks

I upgraded the shop this weekend. I finally picked up a band saw and belt/disk sander.
I'm really happy with the band saw, cutting handle materials is a breeze now. before I was using a hand saw and some pieces I was able to use the little buzz saw attachment on my dremel.

so now. more on topic, I cut up around 44 pick blanks and started cutting up wood for handles. any requests? :D

Re: Anero's Picks

I agree, I think a little bandsaw like that would work nicely in my shop.

here is the newest set.

all leopard wood, after I made the hook I changed rivet materials, I'm using a hollow steel 1/16" tube now.

Just finished a set of ebony handled picks, I think they turned out pretty nice.

Re: Anero's Picks

Damn! Lookin' good! Can't decide which handles I like best.
If I HAD to choose... I might go with the ironwood.
They're all beautifully sleek though.

Please, keep posting photos :D

Re: Anero's Picks

Thanks OldFast :)

Here is a little teaser, it will be the next set I work on over the next week or so.

I still need to finish a rake for the ebony set first though haha.

these are a all desert ironwood burl. and all matched. now that I finally have a bandsaw I can easily cut matching scales.

any suggestions on pick tips? I'm thinking deforest, gem, reach and maybe another boggie.

Re: Anero's Picks

Ebony set done!

I went with a city/L rake mainly because I like them, I feel it is a under used/appreciated rake that just sits in every ones kit collecting dust.
hope it will inspire a few people to pick up theirs and run it through a few locks :).
try using it as a rocker or lifter rather than just zipping with it.
