Strange GOSO picks

The first set of commercial picks that I purchased years ago was a set from GOSO. Mainly because I had access to them and they were reasonably inexpensive.

I have read a few comments by people that GOSO picks aren’t very good but I have found that their hooks to be very good. The hooks below have been effective, strong (never bent or broke) and comfortable. They have also had a lot of use. A shame that they can’t be purchased separately.

Recent posts of some very long keys got me thinking of some of the strange picks that also came in the set.

At the time I thought that they must be for some strange Asian locks that I have never seen. Now I’m of the opinion that they (GOSO) just copied some common picks like hooks and the rest were designed by someone that has no idea about picking locks and just designed a whole bunch of picks that they THOUGHT might be useful. I could be wrong but can anyone tell me what you would use these for (on what kind of locks) or are they just what I think, crazy inventions.

Then there is this object that comes in the GOSO dimple set. I suppose it is a torsion tool of some kind but is so thick (46 thou thick and 0.12 inch wide) that, again, I wonder what kind of lock that it fits into and how it works. Any ideas??

I have a 31 piece set of Kloms and I am sitting here LMAO because there's picks in that case that are just as bizarre especially the car rakes . Like your Goso hooks I've been finding some of the Kloms come in handy on certain keyways and bittings.


ETA: Picked this set up for $13.00 on sale so it's a good deal even if they bend or break although I haven't had a problem yet.

I bought the Goso dimple picks from Lockpick Canada and really wasn't impressed with them and sent them back and bought the Souber multi-lock pickset instead. A much better quality set but pricey.

@Neilau that strange tension bar comes with all the goso sets although idk wtf its supposed to be used for. as far as those rakes in the second picture they look like dimple rakes. ive never tried them but i dont see how effective they could be. they have some strange ideas about locks and lock picks over there in china..

The long ones with the triangles on the end are for laser auto locks, or sidewinders, in the states. They go on the one side to rake the wafers and are swapped over for the other side. Ditto with the saw tooth. However, I thinned the saw tooth down and it was my favourite pick for ages, until I broke it!

I ordered a few sets of super cheap klom picks last year as something to give to people starting out. Each set was just over $1, now it looks like they're almost $4. I found out why they looked familiar a bit.

This particular pick set by Goso is all right for beginners that break and bend picks more often, since it is fairly inexpensive.
However, from my experience (i owned one of those too) the strength of the steal is poor in comparison to other pick sets (bending/breaking occurs more frequently), the machine work (hence it is cheap) is quite bad and requires the owner to sand off the sharp edges and also the thickness of the pick blades is quite high if you are dealing with restrictive and paracentric key ways.

The strange locking picks are designed for older car (wafer) locks if I am not mistaken.
