Dental Key

So I was in the waiting room of my dentist and saw a wall chart on the history of dentistry. What caught my attention was a tool they called the 'Dental Key'. :shock:

They have a bit of information on Wikipedia on this:

I'm sure glad they don't use this device in our modern dentistry.

Even with nitrous gas, I wouldn't want that in my mouth, OUCH !!!

Memories of my first dental visit. I'm pretty old and grew up in a small town with no dentist. When I was in grade 3 or 4 some guy came out to the school to work on us. The drill was a treadle machine like those old sewing machines and probably spun at 50 revolutions per minute. The needle was one of those large metal things like you might use on a horse. So those crude instruments in the picture are no joke. Thank God for modern technology.
