Schlage Everst vs Primus vs Everst Primus

I have always been interested to try the Schlage sidebar lock but am very confused which it actually is. I read a Schlages manual/guide discussing the Everst, Primus and Classics and I am still lost. What I understood was that Everst is just key control and Primus is the actual lock with their side bar tech. Am I right?

If all you are interested in finding is one with a sidebar. All you have to do is make sure you can read the word PRIMUS on the front of the lock cylinder.

All primus cylinders have sidebars. Primus keys will go into and can work non-primus locks, so again make sure the cylinder says primus on it.

The original "classic" primus are are easier to pick than everest primus. They function exactly the same, it's just that everest primus keyways are harder to maneuver around.

Primus: standard top pins; sidebar and finger pins; C, E, F keyways
http://www.lockwiki.com/index.php/Schlage_Primus
Everest: standard top pins, check pin on side; Cxxx series keyways
http://www.lockwiki.com/index.php/Schlage_Everest
Everest Primus: standard top pins; sidebar and finger pins; Cxxx series keyways

Lockwiki is slightly incorrect; Primus came before Everest.
There is also Primus XP and Everest Primus XP which use another finger pin size.

Hate to say but some locksmiths will take a check-pin out of a C123 cylinder, or even take a side-bar out of a Primus Cylinder, just because they think they will be the only ones working on the lock.

Such things do happen....

CLH!

Damn ReRun, you just got me even more interested. Hate pat my own shoulder but I have nothing at the moment that can give me a good fun challenge. I have a few locks with pretty warded keyways which are giving me the challenge but getting my pick stuck at every pins kills the fun in it. Im hoping this wont be the case with the primus as it looks open but regardless this lock has been on my list for a while now.
