Re: Members Say Hi

Hi everyone!

I'm Fiasco, a brand new member from France...

I'm a total beginner at lockpicking i must admit, to be precise i'm even waiting for my first kit from sparrows at the moment, that's how much of a newbie i am!

But i'm addicted to bosnianbill's youtube channel, from which i've been sucking informations like a leech, and i devoured 'Lockpicking Detail Overkill' from M. Gibson.. that's where i read about keypicking.com !

Be sure i'll be begging for advices as soon as i'll be messing with locks...

I live in south east suburbs of Paris where i'm a tattooist, so i should not be too dumb with my hands.

So, that's pretty much it, glad to meet you people.

Hi Fiasco.

Welcome to the best forum on locks (and things). :slainte:

Looking forward to lots of questions. What locks do you intend to start on?

Are you French? -- your English is very good (Much better than my French :D ).

PS a lot of members here have Ink - there is a thread on it somewhere in one of the dungeons here.

Re: Members Say Hi

Well thank you Neilau !

I don't really know what kind of locks i'm gonna start with.. Probably small ones, small padlocks, four pins (or less), I'll try to keep it simple i guess, in order to progress...
I sure won't try to attack 7 pins dimple locks right now..

I've ordered a 'kick start' kit form sparrows, plus a worm rake, a shank cos i'm intersted in the bypass technique, and a thin decoder knife, "picking" combination locks seems really cool too. Most of the picks in the kit are 0.015" thick, since i'll mostly get my hands on euro profile locks...

So that's how i intend to start, any suggestions are welcome..

Yes, i'm french. I owe my english mostly to the fact that i'm a fan of blues and rock'n'roll oldies, and of course to english speaking tv shows...

I didn't notice the ink thread, i'll sure take a look at that !

A fellow blues man.

Who's your favorite? I know that you can't just pick one but who do have the most recordings of? What style?

Getting back to locks - a lot of people start off on Master #1 and/or #3 or cheap Chinese pad locks.

Good luck.

Oh, do you play an instrument?

Re: Members Say Hi

Hey everyone!

I've been into picking & locks in general for a year or two now. I 'picked' it up online through videos like Schuyler Towne's and pdf's like the MIT guide. I recently started teaching a lock mechanics elective at the school i work at and it's been such a blast! Since starting that i realized HOW much more i still want to learn. I bought a few books and this website seems like a great resource as well. I'm coming from the /r/lockpicking subreddit and I heard only great things about you all! :)

Re: Members Say Hi

Hi battshins ! I've just arrived on that board, but i'm already overwhelmed with info... wish you the same !

> Neilau :

My top three blues men (and women) would probably be : 1-J.B Lenoir 2-Howlin' Wolf 3-Memphis Minnie. But of course There's a lot more I admire...
And yes, I play guitar a bit... and harmonica just to mess with my cat.

I note your locks suggestion, but since i live in france i don't know if i'll be able to get my hands on too much Master Locks, cheap chinese locks are way easier to get 'round here though.

lol... you're just like me in the library. By the time I ask for help,
I'm usually standing directly in front of what I was looking for.

On the Board Index, just above the Recent Topics, you see the Donate button? It's just above that.
