Looking for good eBook conversion software

I need to be able to convert .doc or .pdf files into .mobi and .epub formats if anyone knows of any decent free software that will do the trick. Hopefully one that will be versatile enough to handle a small number of images in the document, and keep page headers in the correct place at the top of the page, regardless of what device or screen size is used to read it. If it kept the table of contents working and clickable, that would be nice too.

I don't care if it's one program, or if I need a separate program for .mobi and .epub.

I've tried Calibre which is well rated, free and will work, converting between almost any two conceivable formats, but every time I use it there are lots of formatting errors I've been unable to overcome.

Anyone know of anything decent?

Re: Looking for good eBook conversion software

Hi MBI.

There is another prog called Mobi Pocket Reader.

I have not used it to convert anything but it will import Office, PDF, HTML,TXT. and EPUB files.

I suppose you could then save them in an epub format.

Like I said I have not tried it for conversions.

It is free to download - www.mobipocket.com/en/downloadsoft/

Cheers.

I use Cailbre. Free and open source. Seems to work well.

I see you've tried that and didn't like it. Disregard this post. LOL
