Wanted - Master #1400 padlock

Hello,

I am looking for a Master padlock #1400 to complete my Master lock display. It has been a fun project to source all of the other locks but, after several years of looking, I have been unable to find a #1400. Box is not necessary but I would like the lock to be in very good to excellent condition with two original keys.

Below is a photo from the back of this advertising piece showing the lock in question:

Thanks for any help, leads, or information you can provide.

Greg

Ahh, a laminated warded lock. Don't think I have a 1400, but will check when I get the time.

Hmmm. I'll take a look too. But I'm pretty certain that even if I have one it
will either have no keys or will be nowhere close to the condition you need.

Will we get to see a picture of this display if/when it's completed? :)

Absolutely! May even get a picture of the incomplete display if I can get out to the shop in the next few days. Always looking for a better way to display locks so maybe if this hardware store/locksmith display sparks some ideas I'd love to hear about them.

Oh man, that's a beautiful old display. Nice work on restoring it.
After you get the lock you're looking for I'd like to move this thread from the B-S-T subforum to the lock subforum so it doesn't get buried among a bunch of old "for sale" threads.

Oh man! That's fantastic!! Thanks for the photo. Nothing in the lockroom for you btw :(

Where ever did you happen to find that little gem? How old you figure it might be?

Re: Wanted - Master #1400 padlock

Thanks! I got it off of ebay (after looking for just the right one at antique shows/stores for years). It came without any locks and I have had a lot of fun trying to track them all down. Just need the one now and figured I would reach out to the community for help. I think it is from the 1950's and looks to be the third with the big lion head on it. The later ones don't have the lion head.

Another fun thing with this is that as I got each lock I picked it before adding to the display. This started out as a challenge but thanks to practice just became a fun task to check off the list. With so many ways to non-destructive ways to open these it is still fun to pick them.

Another forum you could check (if you haven't already) might be antique-locks.com

Thanks - oddly enough I go there as a reference and never considered asking! I'll do that. Thanks again.
