Wanted , mechanical wristwatches

My other hobby is Horology (watch making / repair)
I am looking for any kinds of watch (or related tools), but prefer mechanical as i am trying to teach myself how to rebuild/repair watches and need donors !
I can trade locks or maybe some homebrew picks or cash or a cell phone (Sony erricsonW980i) or just ask me about anything you would like to get
hold of guys ! as long as it's legal.

Re: Wanted , mechanical wristwatches

Thanks Bezza but it would be an awfully long way to send them if they're quartz (battery operated) it does appear at a guess that most are mate ,
the postage wouldn't be nice either , but if you don't want much for them i'll gladly take any mechanical watches , cheers !

Re: Wanted , mechanical wristwatches

Thanks Uklockpicker , yes broken is fine ! as is damaged or incomplete , i will cover postage for any watch posted in the uk regardless , but i need to be
a little more selective with some of our more distant/remote members as postage can sting !

Anyone have a watch they just want tidying up or minor repair , i'm not prepared to work on anything that is expensive as
there is always a chance that i could fuck it up , and i can't afford that guys !

Re: Wanted , mechanical wristwatches

Hmm, I have a Seiko 5 kinetic winder that is wonky. I was shoveling snow and I think I knocked something off. It wont work normally, but if i give it a good shake it will run for a few seconds to a few minutes...and gains around 20 seconds per minute. I think its something to do with that tiny little coiled spring.

If you think you can fix it and get it adjusted I could send it your way.

Re: Wanted , mechanical wristwatches

Riyame , the seiko 5 is an automatic , not a kinetic and as you have given it a whack , you have most likely snapped the pivot/s on your balance staff
(broken the tips of the axle which holds your "hair" spring in place , this creates friction and will drag the watch to a standstill , i don't know if a DIY guy can
purchase spares like this but i do have a couple of these kicking about and i may be able to sort it out ?
Warning , do not send it to me if you expect a pro' job as i may not be able to repair it
Ps seiko will repair these , even now , but you pay , (and i don't really charge , just postage)

key_shaped_clock.jpg

Hey nozza, I found a key shaped clock 8-)
I can set the time but the clock doesn't work.
About your trade offer, you can send me whatever you want. I'd like a few key-blanks to practice impressioning or a lock of your choice.
If you're interested let me know your address so I can ship it your way.

Cheers :)

Re: Wanted , mechanical wristwatches

A picker that doesn't like a key shaped clock? :( But if it needs a battery, it's not mechanical, so this may be the reason why you don't like it. Never mind, I'll use it to open selim padlocks

I'd like to find a few blanks for my yale padlock. I got it without a key and would like to make one or two. It's a dimple key and I've only impressioned regular keys till now. I'll post a picture of the keyway if needed.

Thanks :)

Since I didn't want to hijack your thread, I made a post in BST area to ask for blanks.

Cheers :)
