I always wonder just how proud they can possibly be of their engineering if they can sell Emtek garbage for ten times (or more) the price of a Kwikset lockset that has been UL Listed as a grade 3.
What grade is an Emtek lock listed as You might ask? It is a Grade 0. Even Assa Abloy (the parent co.) knows better than to turn one of their junky Emtek locks over to Underwriter Labs, as it would
easily Fail Every Test, because as I have already explained they are Crap!
Emtek is by far the crappiest lock I have ever had the distinction of rebuilding, after all their lousy retaining clips fall off. Generally they seem to last just over a year, before they magically
fall apart. I have actually taken brand-new Emtek locks out of the box, only to find they left the factory already pre-broken.

Now I wanna spend a moment discussing their assembly procedure on the locking knobs and leversets they sell. Emtek insists on using a lithium based grease that automatically turns into
a sticky paste after spending a summer or two in my state of Arizona. Unlike the fly-by-night companies around here, when I find a crummy Emtek lock that refuses to lock, I know it simply
needs to be cleaned out, in order to get all the sticky grease-paste out of it. Everyone else makes extra money throwing them in the trash, which is probably where they really belong.

Now I can see where the money to build their nice website came from

Why don't you tell us what you really think of them? No need to be shy about it, Jones. ;)

And coming pre-broken from the factory is not a mistake. It allows the customer to get the first repair out of the way before installation, saving time
