Nail head, paper clip, screw driver, thin finishing nail,etc.,etc

Element wire from a high pressure sodium bulb and a the steel cable from a electrical fish tape.

I always use the spring steel from windshield wiper blades to make tensioners

Tie pins. The handle of one to tension and the tip of the pin on the other to pick. Easier to use on office-style wafer locks though.
