Dilemma: Abus 83/80 or giant mul-t-lock interactive.

So lately ive been eyeballing the Abus 83/80. I asked my favorite locksmith if he could get it in and he said yes he could. But offered me a giant mul-t-lock interactive for the same price $150.

The mul-t-lock is just as massive and has shackle guard and 15 mm shackle and all that. Not to mention it's a mul-t-lock so it'll be much more secure in the core.

I'm at a loss. I really want the 83/80 but at the same time this is an awesome deal on a mul-t-lock. Normally $210.

What would you guys do?

The Abus is $78 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ABUS-Schlage-Rek ... B009S5Y6WG and here's a pretty solid mul-t-lock interactive on ebay for $75 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mul-T-Lock-C10- ... GVBTlds-pA

Lol. That's a c10. Nothing even close to the one I'm talking about. The c10 is the lowest security pin in pin mul-t-lock makes. The lock I'm talking about is almost the highest security lock they make. If you were to put an MT5 plus in it it would be.

The prices I quoted are for brand new in the box from a store that I can always bring it back to if there are any problems.

The 83/80 (I saw it a long time ago) is zero bitted. So I would have to spend another 20 bucks or so getting it pinned up. I'm not a locksmith and I don't want a challenge lock, I want a nice smooth stock operating lock.

Also my prices are Canadian, so your $75 abus is over $120 for me.

Thanks for the info though!

No problem! I know you wanted to give me a better deal, believe me I wanted you to as well lol.

I'm going to look over the mul-t-lock tomorrow. He says he has more than one and was joke asking if I wanted to buy two or three. Joke might be on him. Lol

Anyways, I think if I can get that mul-t-lock for $150 (canadian) it's normal price is well over 200 canadian, I will. The Abus is a standard price and I could always get it. The mul-t-lock on the other hand might be to good to pass up. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens tomorrow ☺

Most likely SC (300) cause the other choice is WR (800) *yuk*.

OMG it's bigger than I thought.
Heavy and massive. Maybe even more than 15mm shackle.

Ok, just some more info on the lock to round off this thread.

The model number is E18HE1, The 18 is for the shackle cause it's 18mm! Lol.

Some more pics for those who like that sort of thing.

Not sure about the weight, but if I hop on and off the scale with and without it, it's a 5 lb difference. Though my scale may not be the most accurate, It's just a bathroom scale.

So have you picked it yet?
macgng; it's completely unnecessary to have ~15$ in keys for a 50¢ lock ... but we all do it anyway :P

Looks like he picked it. Up. But picked nonetheless. :D

I love the huge locks, and this one is a discontinued model. I hear from L0ckcr4ck3r that the G-series MTL padlocks are in end-of-life as well.

No I haven't picked it yet. This lock is already spoken for. I'll let the new owner be the first to pick it. ☺

Aww, thanks, WCP. Not that I'd mind if you tried.

Yes, this beast will end up in my "Do Not Drop This Lock On Your Foot" collection.
