Got this great challenge lock from Random today! It took a bit, and all those serrated pins and other modifications made it rather... crunchy.

And this was inside....

Good job, I figured the yale core in that 1105 would make it more entertaining.

Re: What have you picked today

Bought a new lock on my way home after work. A Cocraft 400B-1. Picked pretty easily. It's certified for insurance class 1 (says "grade 2" in the English translation) and it's graded 7/10 by the manufacturer, but it was about the same as their 5/10 lock.

Let's see if the photo uploads OK.

edit: I've picked this lock several times now and there's something going on that I don't fully understand. It seems like the first driver pin is serrated or standard and the rest are spools. Here's what happens:
1. I pick pin one -> false set at 1 o'clock
2. I pick the spools.
3. When I pick the last spool the core turns to almost open (2 o'clock) and stops.
4. I insert the pick and release the tension so that the core rotates back until I feel pin 1 (I think) drop down and I can open the lock.

What I don't get is how the core could turn that far if the pin was overset. I can see the first pin and it looks like it's a bit rounded on the top, but I can't see anything else out of the ordinary. I've had a spool pin turn almost completely sideways in my training lock, which resulted in a very deep false set, but that doesn't seem to match what's happening here. Any ideas?

edit2: might be something in the unlocking mechanism that seizes up. Seems to come loose when I jiggle the core a bit.

Yes, there's a lot of crunchiness from it, and the threading doesn't simplify matters either. It was an interesting lock to pick, thanks for sending it!

Re: What have you picked today

I have honestly never gutted this sort of lock. There isn't a screw retaining the core. I will try on Saturday looking into it. Started a new job and bicycling to work. Its kicking my butt! :razz:

Re: What have you picked today

HI well pleased with myself I managed to pick this viro lock with a tension bar from my goso set and a handmade pick which I made from wire from a winder wiper , think it was more luck than skill as I haven't been able to do it again
