Yeah, don't try a short hook.

Just when you think you've learned it all, that is when you find you haven't learned anything yet.

I purchased a #2 pippin and I can still see the pin marks - I would recommend the #2 file now.

will post a pic no luck at control - but did manage to get her open after days of trying

NO BILL THEY DONT ALL FALL OPEN WITH A RAKE - NOT THE 7 PIN ONES  :sfic:

I agree - the rake only seems to get instant results on easy locks for me. I have tried the technique of raking, then using the hook to look for pins that aren't set. This gets results, but not as quickly as Bosnianbill seems to get.

Here I used the pick you see here and the Peterson Gem - I didn't open it in the first session (in the evening watching TV) but it was open with about a half hour of real effort.

This one I raked, then used the "Deep Reach" pick to set pins that needed it. This was about 10 minutes. I should mention that this is an easy keyway, and the bitting isn't very hard. SFIC cylinders with hard bitting and nasty keyways are beyond my current skill level. I have some WB Best SFIC cylinders that I've been unable to pick open. None of my unmodified picks can get around the paracentric keyway, and the ones that I've modified with a bend in the tip can reach, but I can't lift the pin through the full range of movement. Oh well, maybe someday.....

Jesus.

Hold your pick out like a microphone, drop it like you won a rap battle, and walk away. You did it. You reached the mountaintop.

Thanks! That's pretty cool how you opened that lock - I still can't believe the bitting on that EVVA!

I have a GPI (I think) that has one of the most fucked up keyways, I can't fit anything there even hard to set the first pin :D
