An old SQUIRE sliding door lock. I need to secure an aluminum sliding window so I got 3 of these and I'm going to install them. I couldn't help picking one.

Cheers :)

Picked this ELCA little lock yesterday. It is an interesting one because you have actually 3 sets of keys (A, B and C) used to disable the previous set.
I made a video with a dissection video more or less if you are interested to see how this thing actually works

Re: What have you picked today

Learned to use a Lishi today, courtesy of my local locksmith. It was during a rekey for an old Subaru where the owner misplaced the key. Originally quoted her for a transponder chip but, after decoding the lock and trying a metal key in the ignition, it turned right over, no transponder necessary. Customer saved some money, I learned to use a new tool and the locksmith earned some good will and a customer for life.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about people going to locksmiths and being turned away when they asked for practice locks. My local has been the exact opposite, they gave me a ton of doorknobs, they let me ride along with them, teach me to use new tools, let me use their equipment to try to figure out obscure locks and are, in general, just the best kind of people you could hope for.

Re: What have you picked today

Another EVVA EPS. These things are fun! Sorry, no camera at the moment.
This one had a much trickier profile plus was very well used and all grimed up, so atleast I have an excuse for it taking longer than it should...´
Warding prevented reaching the pins from the bottom or doing any sort of navigation to poke at them. Ended up having to use a fat (included with Brockhage pick gun) wrench in bottom-of-keyway and using it for leverage. Probably horribly wrong, but it worked :).

Re: What have you picked today

Alfa 7-pin
Image
Only 6 of them were actually populated and pin 6 was masterkeyed so I assume this lock was part of some system.

All key pins are standard. The driver pins are somewhat funky though. I won't even bother trying to get good pictures of them with my camera, so I'll describe instead:
-one standard in steel (OK, not so funky)
-one "inverted spool" (thick in the middle, thin at the edges). No idea what that's supposed to do.
-Serrated pins with one or two deep wide serrations. These pins are hollow and have a T pin sitting inside them. I assume this is some sort of kinetic attack protection.

Took me a good while and ended up having to gut it first since I was expecting spools or something... not little serrated Rube Goldberg Machines. Tough pick even then, resorted to progressive pinning which I try to avoid otherwise. Very uneven feedback, though that can be partly because it's still a bit grimy inside.
Are these locks by any chance named something else in the US/Europe? I recognize the pins from somewhere. They are pretty common here under the Alfa brand but this is the first one in my collection.

Well done Jordo
