A little help please.

Hello all,

I was given this door knob from work today. I would like to pop the core out of it.

I can't find any identifying brand or anything on it. That makes it tougher to Youtube it. ;-)

I know the hole on the side has something to do with it, I just don't have the
background to figure this out. I'm sure it's something simple.

I have the key as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is a Sargent. I am the resident Sargent collector here :D
You should be able to take the knob apart using an awl or something sharp and that hole. Without having the whole thing in front of me, it's hard to say.
I love those locks btw.

Re: A little help please.

Put the key in turn to 90 degrees and push the retaining pin (thats under the hole) and you should be able to pull the knob right off.

Re: A little help please.

Put the key in the lock and turn it 90° either direction and push in on that hole which is the retainer. The whole handle will come off and you should be able to slide the cylinder out the back.

Re: A little help please.

Got her! Thanks everybody!

I quickly ran outside to the garage and cut 2 keys for it. I have an OLD
Curtis 2000 cutter that I picked up for $50 about 7 years ago. :-) They
wife still mocks me about it. lol

Should I gut it? Is that normal protocol? ;-)

It was kinda like a glitch in the Matrix.

So I gutted the lock. I really need to get a better setup for a plug follower. The nerf
bullet ain't cutting it.

Pretty much it pooched out all the top pins on me.

There was a control/master? pin in there, hopefully that's what you call it.

Would that always be at the last position or could it have been anywhere?

It's not a big deal but I'd like to put it in the proper spot. Thoughts?

I read it and did a double take. It must have been seconds after Jeff posted that I posted.

Re: A little help please.

Master pins can be in any position. I'd recommend getting a few different sizes of plug followers. They will come in handy!

Re: A little help please.

As far as the master pin placement goes , i believe anywhere but 1st or last chamber , although i'm sure the guys can tell stories which disprove this ,
good luck mate !

I was determined to be helpful but my adamantium was tingling so I knew someone was trying to beat me to it. At that I was all like "oh hell no; hack and slash, throw grammar out the window and get the point across!" Image
Of coarse it could have just been a little luck and an extreme lack of sleep.
