S&G 826C Question

I just purchased a S&G 826C, and naturally no key, medeco core(do they all have these?) so how do i pick to control? do i just pick counter clockwise?, not exactly sure if these cores are anything special or just a standard medeco cylinder

Yes, they all do come with Medeco cores. Pick it counter-clockwise to get control. There is no 'standard Medeco cylinder'. There is a special core for that lock, though cores for one or two other of the lock models in that series can be used.

Just when you think you've learned it all, that is when you find you haven't learned anything yet.

Re: S&G 826C Question

Thanks for the quick answer, now my only problem now is being able to pick the medeco haha, of the 6 (well 7 counting the core in this lock) i have only been able to pick one of them, gotta keep at it!

Re: S&G 826C Question

Cores from the S&G 826, 831 and Hi Shear padlocks are the same but the control keys for the Hi Shear padlocks are slightly different. They are Medeco Classic cores.

If you want to see how to take one apart I made one here.

Re: S&G 826C Question

Sweet thanks, however might be a while before I get to that point haha, spent about a half hour on it dont feel like I'm getting anywhere, as of now all pins feel springy, one pin barely binds when heavy heavy tension is applied, when I start picking I can hear them drop as I set the next pin, seems to me the side bar isn't set correctly, but the springy pins say otherwise, correct?

Re: S&G 826C Question

I was just watching an 826D with all three keys (including the original control) for a great price but someone else nabbed it before I did :(. Kicking myself now.
Have fun and good luck with yours! Should be a nice little picking challenge :)

Re: S&G 826C Question

So far I have only been able to pick one Medeco lock, a classic mortise cylinder, I have opened it probably 5 times or so and I still struggle with it alot

Hell, if it were easy they wouldn't be protecting nuclear bunkers with 'em

Keep at it! You;ll be proficient in no time. 5 times is 5 times more than I could do :D
