I have received some supplies over the past few months. I bought a LAB Annex, LAB A2 pinning kit, Some Uncombinated cores, key blanks, punch machine and used padlocks. I am hooked. My friend Riyame, has taught me a lot about these locks. I have learned how to combinate them and punch keys for them. Iknow I have just scratched the surface. I want to Master these locks. Does anyone here have any good sources for blanks, cores, housings, padlocks, etc? I also need tooling for them. Can anyone share secrets or tips you've picked up abpit these locks, such as; pros, cons, dos, donts, lessons learned, etc.? Im really dying to know as much as I can about the A2 system. Any help will be appreciated.
Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!
It sounds like you have a huge start on this. Can you write out a pinning chart by hand or at least with a calculator? Can you master key the control keys? Can you figure out the control key by dumping the core into that annex and measuring the pins? What else is it you need and I will try to help. I sent you a pm, I have something for you.

Ha! I hear you. I finally have my first two Best cores (master, control keys and all) and mortise body.
Your comments reminded me of BosnianBill doing an inventory of his locks and saying at one time he wanted to open all Best locks.

Take a look at these books:
Small format interchangeable core servicing by Don O'Shall
The National Locksmith Interchangeable Cores Small Format by William Lynk
The National Locksmith SFIC Advanced by William Lynk
Sounds like you have most of the tools and equipment already! Randy Main is a good source for blanks, cores, housings etc, I also get a lot of stuff from eBay and HL Flake.

Lol Gordon!
I have an amazing grasp of the obvious. Beyond that, not so much.
Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped me thus far. I have been shown leads, charts, traded sfic cylinders and more. Truly, thank you. Also, if anyone needs any help from me, in regards to BEST LOCKS, lemme know!
Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!
I don't like the new cores with the side bar milling at the key's tip. I have seen two of these keys tear through the metal and bend.
Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!
Are you referring to the Cormax system? Have seen a couple of those in the wild. Don't think it is the greatest thing.

I want to make a video for you Sour to go over a few things but my computer is on the shop. I will try to figure out how to prop up my phone for one maybe.
