Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!

I have a question. All the best locks I have are from a locksmith in Canada. All the locks I have gutted from him have been saturated with security pins. Even rather short pins are spooled. The tiny ones feel like single serrations. The longer keypins are also spooled. Most have 10 spools or more in 7 chambers. Can get pretty tough when they snag on both shear lines. Is it normal to have so many?

As far as I know, it is rare to find one that has any security pins at all, let alone what you tell of. I'd like to trade for one of those, Josephus. ;)

Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!

I had a pinning kit with spools in it. Wish I hadnt sold it but id did! Oh well. Security pins in a lock like a Best, that has pretty tight tolerances, makes it feel like an American Lock. I have picked on some with security pins and they never false set on me. Never.

Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!

Great thread fellahs!

Talking about security pins...

These are SFIC spools (I am assuming work for BEST?) - from CLK :

Anyone know where you can get serrated pins for SFIC?

Cheers,

Hi Riyame,
Sorry for the noob question: To what do the sizes you mention refer? Is it pin diameter perhaps?

Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!

As far as I know, there is no MACS with Best locks. You can pin them 0-9-0-9-0-9-0 all day long without key functionality being affected.

And thus the MACs are 9 ;)

In the A2 pinning system for SFIC those are top pin sizes. They are sized from 2B to 19B. Bottom pins are 0A to 9A

Any locksmith supply dealer that has LAB pins should sell them.

Control key works!

Top Master key works!

Now they all have a Master Operating key and each group has a control key. The ones I dumped, arent functioning properly. I must have messed up the controlpns somehow. I will dump em and repin em.

Re: I want to MASTER BEST LOCKS!

Sour, nice job working out the keys. Are the different lock groups master keyed differently, or the same master key?

And yeah, we believe it is your daughter's doll in your work area. Of course we believe it. Uh-huh. Sure thing, sour. ;) ;) ;)

The separate groups may have had a sub master, but truthfully, I was only looking for the top master key. So I cant really say for sure.
