Best SFIC Keyway Pictures

Thought it might be interesting to have a thread with pictures of the different Best SFIC keyways. Most of us have seen the key chart, but thought we could have actual pictures of the keyways.

Went through my collection and grabbed what was immediately present. Will add a few pictures from locks in the wild later.

This will, by necessity, be out of order since other people will be adding pictures, too.

If you are not sure what keyway your Best SFIC has, here are a couple charts:

Some of these next ones are theoretical only.

First up, here is a “B”

“G”

“H”

“WC”

“WY” - (Just got them today for free!)

Know have some pictures from the wild somewhere, but please post your pictures!

Re: Best SFIC Keyway Pictures

The WA, WC & WY look like they also belong in the Keyway Fear thread, I'd really like to have a go at those!

Would this be the G keyway? I have a couple of them. Picking to open is easy, haven't had a serious attempt at picking for control yet.

Gordon, how did you acquire the WY keyway cores? Very nice!

Friend is a safe tech. Opened a used safe that a business had bought without a combo, and those two cores were the only things inside the safe. The business didn't want them, so my friend took them to the shop.

When I saw them, I said 'cool, WY keyway. Who is using those puppies?' My friend said I could have then if I liked them, so they followed me home. Ordered some blanks last night. When they arrive, will punch some keys, drive out the existing pins, and recombinate the cores.

Re: Best SFIC Keyway Pictures

Not entirely sure what keyway this is, but I think I've passed it off as a "J" before. The only difference is that the left side of the keyway has no second warding above the main one. Any insight?

Re: Best SFIC Keyway Pictures

Received the "WY" blanks yesterday. Think tonight or tomorrow will punch and decode those "WY" cores for a writeup on the process. That company shipped the blanks very quickly!

Not to cut the keys, but yes, have the tools to punch the cores into the book that can then be opened to decode the cores, and then to combinate/cap them. To cut the keys, can do it by hand, or stop by my favorite lock shop and use their key punch.

Re: Best SFIC Keyway Pictures

Right. I have decoding and capping blocks but no combinator.
