Re: things to read

Locksmith Ledger and The National Locksmith are a couple of old standards. They contain a lot more advertising than they used to, but are still good.

The Independant Locksmith Journal is way better than The National Locksmith.

Re: things to read

Personally for my money the Locksmith Ledger is worthless. Mostly because I don't do a lot of access control here and that is mostly what the few articles they have are about. The rest of it is one big advertisement.

It's run by Ken Persson, of Peterson lockpicks. Here is the link, but if you ever lose it, you can link to it direcly from the main page of the Peterson lockpicks website.

I ordered a free sample issue, but I don't know what I did with it so I haven't even read it yet.

Re: things to read

The articles from TILJ is far far FAR better in quality than TNL. You actually learn something from that magazine, and it's not 70% advertisment like the other ones.

Re: things to read

i get secondhand locksmith ledgers from a locksmith who gets a subscription through their employer, and neglects to read what little info they provide. i'm looking into 'independent locksmith journal', and it already provides more for the money than locksmith ledger has.

Im turned off by the pdf magazines. I like an old fashion hard copy that I can leave somewhere randomly and stumble across again. But alas, those days are quickly fading into obscurity.
