Schlage key

Other than to familiarize yourself with the door lock or to practice cut or hand file one, when was the last time anyone has cut an SC6 or SC22 ? It's been 30 years since I last cut one. I did see a door with a Schlage lock at a recent yard sale and it even had the SC6 key with it.

Thats the double sided wafer correct? Illco 1307W equivalent. I haven't cut one but I think I have a lock in the junk box that takes one and a few keys on the old key collection wire.

They are on all the key racks I had/have and I see them in stores so some people still are using that lock. They are few and far between in my area.

Re: Schlage key
Must be 10 years since I cut one of those, even longer since I rekeyed one,
however, I unlocked one on a house about 2 years ago. 2-3 rakes and pop!
Still have some blanks on the board.

Re: Schlage key
I have a customer with complete master system with these locks I rekey when tenants move out. Most locksmiths now don't even know how to rekey them properly to an existing master system without just leaving out wafers making the lock have one wafer locking them. Been rekeying this place for 30 years. Surprising the locks have lasted this long yet all in good working order. Look like crap but work.

Re: Schlage key
We have a couple bins full of keyed cylinders, many in pairs, and with factory produced keys (Which means they are also stamped with the original codes).
