Cannon 21FB Safe

Does anyone have any experience with the Cannon 21FB safe? I am going to be opening one and am looking for any info I can get. The safe is old enough that they have little information on it other than it is a Group 1 lock. Based on the fact that it is a 3 wheel lock and the safe has a LG dial I am fairly confident it is a LaGard 1985 lock. Does anyone have any info on door thickness, hardplates, relockers, etc. that they would be willing to share? I would very much appreciate it.

Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
Why not a 3330? If so, it is possibly mounted VD with a spring loaded relocker mounted to the right of lock (looking from front of safe).

Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
My guess is, it is not a Group 1, but a Group 2 lock, and the wall consists mostly of "fire board", i.e. it is a rather plain gun safe.

Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
That was my guess until I attempted to manipulate it. It's not a Group 2 and upon calling the company with the serial number was informed it is indeed a Group 1.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
How much damage are you allowed to do? What tools do you have?

Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
Everything. A powerful drill, carbide bits, a magnetic StrongArm rig, scopes, the works.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
The plan is to pull the dial and drill to scope the wheels. I just want to know if I should be considering side drilling or something to avoid glass relockers or ball bearing hard plate. I was informed by Cannon that they have never used glass relockers so should be good on that front.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
Never heard of a Cannon with glass, ball bearing hard plate (or hard plate for that matter) and definitely never heard of one with a group one lock.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
I can't say for sure it's group 1 but I can say for sure it isn't group 2. It acts just like the 3332 which makes me think if it is really a group 1 it is the 1985. It doesn't say Cannon anywhere on the outside but I figured it may be due to the image on the dial and they confirmed it was and without me even mentioning the lock they said it was group 1. It's definitely hard to believe but I think it really is.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
The dial looks like a Cannon dial, the "American Classic" not.
As far as I have seen the most secure safe Cannon sells is rates as Residential Security Container which has a relocker mounted at the back of the lock. It has some sort of hardplate. Mounting in such a kind of safe is a waste. You can test drill some way off to see if it is indeed built like an RSC.
You should be able to feel if the lock is a 1985. It is like a 3390, but softer.

Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
I am fairly confident it's a 1985. This safe is from the early 90s and they confirmed by both pictures and the serial that it's their safe. I showed them those two pictures. They claim it's a model 21FB. It sounds like I am just going to have to go for it.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
I agree that it makes no sense to put a group 1 or even a 2m for that matter in it. I assumed someone had replaced it for "increased" security but it is factory according to them. With a professional account you can buy a 1985 from MBA-USA for $45. The cost difference is so little they were likely using it as a marketing tactic or skmething back then to try to sell more safes.

Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
Lol.
Re: Cannon 21FB Safe
Is possible to look into the safe through the mounting holes to see if there is a key change hole. We had a similar safe in the shop awhile back. We didn't pull the dial.
