Lost.... some great webpages

As time passes a number of excelent lockpicking resources are dying off.

Two sites that had amazing photgraphs of picks, locks, Falle Cia Tyoe opening tools etc seem to have gone for good .
ie
ericschmiedl.com\locks\index.htm and audiogeek.net

I though I might create a post where some of the newer pickers could get a look at some of the resources that taught the beginers who were learning long ago.

One site that taught me was Greg Miller's site.

Gotta agree about that Eric Schmiedl site, I've grabbed virtually all of the pics off there in the past if anybody wants them? Pics of the Falle 'universal pin tumbler decoder' and the Falle foil impressioning tools...

Wow, I'm surprised Eric took his site down.

Re: Lost.... some great webpages

Interestingly the wayback machine has preserved some of the content from audiogeek.net

When you click on these links it takes a while to load

LINKS REMOVED due to problems with wayback machine reliably finding
content.

Re: Lost.... some great webpages

The forum software truncates links that are very long. If you preview a page before posting it, it breaks the link and you need to cut-and-paste the link again for it to work.

Re: Lost.... some great webpages

FYI: The wayback machine has archives of millions of webpages going back for more than 5 years.

Some content is easy to find but sometimes the wayback site does not totally backup a site.

While back there was a site called ezpicking.com . When it went down a lot of great content was lost

Here is a peek of what the wayback machine has on it.
http://web.archive.org/web/20070113084307/http://www.ezpicking.com/

Some sites have a robots.txt code that prevents some or all of the site being archived.

What can get real interesting is when a site such as this or lockpicking101 has content that was removed and the wayback machine's spider has already backed it up.

About audiogeek.net

They sold high end audio gear. Their website has a lot of other content on it however

The owner also was into lockpicking and had a lot of neat locks and tools photographed

Assuming that the wayback machine doesn't change this url check out this page
on a Chinese Puzzle Lock.

Some Abus lock images

http://web.archive.org/web/20050215051814/http://www.audiogeek.net/images/Abus-2/Page1.html

There are 2 types of images on that site ..... thumbnails and the full size. Clicking on images displayed webpage content will often show a much bigger image.

The next link shows the different directories some that have more lock images. Some of the images are missing from the html code but I found a lot of them that still worked.
