At first for me impressioning sounded intimidating.
But after I read about it and thought about it for a bit it started to sound the same as fitting mechanical components and this made it sound less magical:)
So hopefully anyone reading this that is feeling intimidated by the idea of trying the rewarding process of impressioning can see it in a different less intimidating way and feel motivated to give it a shot.
Knifemakers have a saying that making a knife is just removing all the material that doesn't look like a knife. I borrowed that idea and just removed everything that didn't look like a key;)
Here are the first 3 keys that I impressioned.
I will add more as time permits.

Same saying is used in sculpting. Used to do ice sculptures, and was pretty good at it. My secret was the same... just remove everything from around the dragon, princess, car, flowers or whatever else was stuck in the ice.

You have done quite well with your impressioning, DCT. Used to do 'candling' with steel blanks, but now I use a Sharpie marker. Faster, cleaner, and works just as well.

Your mention of sculpting reminded me of some of the incomplete stone sculptures I have seen that looked like a man trapped in the stone.
I liked the incomplete ones better than the finished ones:)

Your absolutely right, I forgot to mention that special moment;)
For me, when something I'm working on moves in my hands I freeze because I don't wanna lose any parts! (old habits die hard)
It's that next fraction of a second where I get that surge of excitement and a smile starts to spread across my face.
That's the part that's addictive!
I very much enjoy the journey as the whole process is enjoyable but it has to end in success eventually:)
Currently I'm working on finding a source for blanks.
Lets hope the local key cutting kiosk is friendly and not too expensive!
As soon as I get blanks I'll get back to it asap!
Gotta get my fix!;)
