Has anyone removed the plastic handle from their Southord Max Yield pick? I just bought a hook pick with the black handle, and I want to see if I can cut off the plastic and fit my own handle on it.

I just used a magnet and figured out how long the inner metal handle is. It's about an inch. The entire metal part of the tool from the tip of the pick to the handle is somewhere around 3 inches. The rest of the handle is probably nothing but plastic.

Very resourceful method.

PS:- I noticed that SouthOrd have released the slimline version of their Max Yield picks.

At least you didn't get the gray handled ones that are super thick. I bought a MaxYield set just as they were going to the plastic handles and got these super thick picks I could do anything with. Recently got on there and they were nice enough to swap them out for the thinner black handle ones. I still miss the original full metal thin line they originally had.

I love my max yield hook pick. I use it a lot to pick Yale Y1 keyways, and as a probing/rotating tool for Medeco.
