Re: ASSA keyway ID help

got an Assa SCD. Anyone know of the differences?

Assa stamps that on cylinders so you know they are drill protected.
Security Cylinder Drillprotected. SCD. You can allso find SCB on some, its the same in Swedish language.
Many seem to think its a lock model.

Re: ASSA keyway ID help

SCD is a designation that a locks meets Swiss requirements. If it is sold there, it has to have SCD on it. There are a few differences in design. I have several ASSA SCD's.

Re: ASSA keyway ID help

Also, I am that one with the ASSA practice lock on ebay. The guy in California is mt supplier for keys and pins, etc. $12 for a cut key is not out of the question. You cannot reliably duplicate on a machine at a hardware store. He has to use a specific cutter and code cut each one. He makes literally zilch on blanks. He sells at that price to help out the locksport community. As far as the cutting, he has to pay someone to set up the machine and do the cutting. If there is a demand for these blanks and even cut keys, post your comments. I can probably get a supply from him.

Re: ASSA keyway ID help

DTW, I had some time to play with the first Assa you listed and I figured out that a RU45 key fits into the Assa keyway. It needs a few hairs shaved off the bottom and its a few hairs short from the top but all of these cylidners are KA and I seen the pins so that wont be a problem. I think RU46 is what you really need because its the 6 pin blank.
